چکیده

SUMMARY Seismic activity in the Lesser Antilles (LA) is characterized by strong regional variability along arc reflecting complex subduction setting and history. Although routine seismicity monitoring can rely on an increasing number of island stations, island-arc means that high-resolution detailed studies fault structures require a network ocean bottom seismometers (OBS). As part 2016–2017 Volatile recycling at (VoiLA) project, we deployed 34 OBS stations forearc backarc. During deployment time, 381 events were recorded within zone. In this paper, perform full-waveform moment tensor (RMT) inversions, to gain insight into stress distribution depth. We developed novel inversion approach, AmΦB—‘Amphibious Bayesian’, taking account uncertainties associated with deployments. Particularly, orientation horizontal components (alignment uncertainty) high noise level them due microseisms are accounted for using AmΦB. The conducted direct, uniform importance sampling parameters multidimensional tree structure: uniXtree-sampling algorithm. show alignment components, particularly marine environments, influences obtained source mechanism when standard least-squares (L2) RMT schemes, resulting systematic errors recovered focal mechanisms including artificial compensated linear vector dipole (CLVD) contributions. Source Estimation from Broadband Regional Seismograms

Recently developed source inversion techniques do not take full advantage of the broadband nature of regional seismograms. The reason is that Green's functions generated from fiat-layered models are not correct for the complicated propagational phenomena associated with realistic crustal structure. The inversion is usually performed by removing short periods and inverting only selected portions...

Host specialization and geographic localization of avian malaria parasites: a regional analysis in the Lesser Antilles.

We recovered 26 genetically distinct avian malaria parasite lineages, based on cytochrome b sequences, from a broad survey of terrestrial avifauna of the Lesser Antilles. Here we describe their distributions across host species within a regional biogeographic context. Most parasite lineages were recovered from a few closely related host species. Specialization on one host species and distributi...

Identifying Isotropic Events Using a Regional Moment Tensor Inversion

The deviatoric and isotropic source components for 17 explosions at the Nevada Test Site, as well as 12 earthquakes and 3 collapses in the surrounding region of the western US, are calculated using a regional time-domain full waveform inversion for the complete moment tensor. The events separate into specific populations according to their deviation from a pure double-couple and ratio of isotro...

Regional ocean data assimilation.

This article reviews the past 15 years of developments in regional ocean data assimilation. A variety of scientific, management, and safety-related objectives motivate marine scientists to characterize many ocean environments, including coastal regions. As in weather prediction, the accurate representation of physical, chemical, and/or biological properties in the ocean is challenging. Models a...

Advancement in Source Estimation Techniques Using Broadband Regional Seismograms

One important constraint on source retrieval from regional seismograms comes from the amplitude difference between various phases (such as Pnl/surface wave, SV/SH) . Because the misfit errors used in some waveform inversions are normalized by the data and synthetics, the amplitude information in the data has not been fully utilized. In this article, we modify the "cut and paste" source estimati...
